What you will be able to do
- Write a heavenly birthday post or card for a parent, a spouse, a child, a sibling, a grandparent or a friend, with one true detail.
- Mark the anniversary of the death, the first one and the later ones.
- Get through the first holidays, with words for the table, a card for the empty chair and posts for Mother's Day and Father's Day.
- Include them at a wedding, a graduation or a birth, with a toast, a sign, a program line or a note in the baby book.
- Remember a friend's hard day, when most people have stopped writing.
- Plan the year on a calendar of dates, so no day arrives by surprise.
Who it is for, and who it is not for
For you if a birthday or an anniversary is coming and you want to say something, or if you want to be the friend who remembers.
Not for you if you need one line for today: our free page of happy heavenly birthday messages and the page on anniversary of death messages have short examples.
What makes it different
Most remembrance quotes online are generic, and many are wrongly attributed. This book gives you messages written for it, sorted by who you are remembering and by the day, with the small ways families mark these days and the public-domain verses you can quote with confidence.

Common questions
Are the messages religious?
Some are, and they are marked as such; most are not. The book uses "heaven" only where it fits a religious family, and gives non-religious wording for every relationship.
Which days does it cover?
Heavenly birthdays for a mother, a father, a spouse or partner, a child, a sibling, a grandparent and a friend; the first and later anniversaries of a death; Thanksgiving, Christmas, Mother's Day and Father's Day; weddings, graduations, births and other milestones; and messages to send a friend on their hard day.
Can I quote the verses in a post or a program?
Yes. The poems and Bible verses quoted were published before 1931, the date before which, according to the U.S. Copyright Office, works published in the United States are in the public domain. Always give the poet's name.
Is this a grief counseling book?
No. It offers words and simple ways to mark a day, not counseling or medical advice. If a date brings more than you can carry, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is free and confidential, by call or text, at any hour.
